In a country that, I feel, has lost it's way there are still those who know right from wrong. The co-creator of "The Simpsons" was diagnosed with colon cancer and given 6 months to live. He has chosen to give all the royalties ( which is in the tens of millions ) to charities. If more people in Hollywood actually did what they portray, in reality, maybe we could actually get some things done. Instead they cater to those who would just give lip service. May God bless Mr. Simon for his decision. I wish him the best with the time he has left.
I bet this will only be seen by people in Houston. This is the reality of the problems faced by black communities. We will only be able to solve the problem when we truly realize what the problem is. We can make excuses such as poverty, inequality or anything else but the bottom line is that people of any race must, as human beings, start to take responsibility for their own actions. Civility is a word that has been lost in the equation. I heard the best idea today, lets get black conservatives and black liberals together for a conference. We, as blacks, know what the truth of our existence is. I believe we need to come together as a culture before we can tackle the issues that are associated with race. In other words we need to find out who we are. In my opinion we are much like a dysfunctional family. We both know what's right but we still haven't learned how to vocalize it properly and with respect.
I realize I have not posted anything in quite a while. The reason is two-fold. Firstly, my health has kept me away from the blog. I hope to be better soon. Most importantly, I have been at odds with myself over whether to engage in the fray concerning the racial discussions resulting from the Zimmerman trial. As I was reading today through the various sites I read daily I came across the letter I am hoping you will take the time to read. I say this especially to kids ( Of any race in America ). The statements made by Romany make more sense than anything ( I do mean anything ) I have heard or read concerning the sad episode of a young man losing his life and another young feeling he had to take it to defend himself. Take the time to read this and if you do remember change is not something that is just a campaign slogan. http://www.eurweb.com/2013/07/romany-malco-pens-message-to-trayvon-sympathizers/
This is what happens when we LET our Gov't have free reign to do whatever they want. We, as Americans need to hold our leaders accountable for their honesty. We need to ensure that they do not subvert the Constitution. They need to remember again that nthey work for us and not the other way around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kgo8MuszjlE#at=176
